There is nothing we can give to God that He desires more than the gift of ourselves, the 'reasonable, holy and living sacrifice' of a life that belongs joyfully to Him. Yet it is precisely such a life - one which rejoices in bringing God joy - that seeks to offer, out of the abundance of a cup that overflows with love, a sign of thanksgiving, a sign of love. It is from the awareness of how deeply we are loved, that we desire to love in return. It is from the awareness of how much we have been given, that we desire to give in return. Within our hearts is heard the voice of this calling, this echo of love, and we respond.
"Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (1 Thess. 5: 18)
